Six Sigma Consulting from BMG

Our Success Depends on Your Results
We define our success not by training practitioners . . . but by building successful Six Sigma companies. It takes a special talent to guide an organization through implementation . . . from planning to leadership development, and from training to seeing results. Knowing how to successfully lead companies through that process is one of the things that makes us unique.

We Teach You to Fish
Some consultants aim to keep you hooked -- never letting you become fully self-sufficient. BMG is different. We want you to succeed on your own -- and we've created the tools and methods to help you do it. Our support portals, eLearning modules and project tracking tools give you the opportunity to continuously reinforce and refresh your skills so that you keep learning long after our trainers are gone. Just like the Chinese proverb, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime," BMG truly teaches you to fish.

Six Sigma Implementation

Six Sigma for Large and Medium size Companies
Large and medium size companies have a tremendous amount of organizational complexity that must be managed to realize the full potential of Six Sigma or any other strategic initiative. That’s why BMG has developed the complete Six Sigma Management System.

The Six Sigma Management System is the culmination of many years of work by the best minds in business and management. The System allows today’s companies to realize the full potential of the teachings of Juran, Demming, Crosby, Taguchi, and many others. It provides an organizational infrastructure that transforms these teachings into core business practices by recognizing the unique needs of today’s companies and by leveraging modern computing technology to make it all work.

The Six Sigma Management System is designed to deliver breakthrough improvement. The System combines the best tools and methods with the best people under the umbrella of a comprehensive management framework. The results of the Six Sigma Management System are reduced costs, improved quality and reliability, lower administrative, engineering, and manufacturing cycle times, fewer design changes and improved overall customer satisfaction; all leading to increased market share, revenue, profits, and ultimately shareholder value.

The focus of the Six Sigma Management System is optimization and alignment of business processes. This is accomplished by reducing non-conformance to measurable standards that are established to “drive” the business. The result is operational excellence.

BMG has uniquely broken down the immense task of implementing the Six Sigma Management System into manageable modules to ensure success. Each module focuses on a different element of the business. Some of the key modules include Six Sigma training, financial tracking, project selection and review guidelines, corporate communications, and leadership roles and responsibilities. The facilitation process, during which a team of BMG experts lead the client through each of these modules, is called Initialization.

The Initialization Process
The Initialization Process precedes Six Sigma training and is perhaps the most critical element of the entire deployment. During Initialization the tone of the deployment is established along with a comprehensive deployment plan. It is important that the executive leadership team becomes engaged in Six Sigma during Initialization.

The key elements addressed during the Initialization process include:

  • The establishment of measurable objectives for Six Sigma
  • Definition of the critical roles and responsibilities
  • Human Resources planning
  • Communications planning
  • Finance planning
  • Information Systems Planning
  • Training Plans
  • Development of a Black Belt Support Network

When the executive team gains the knowledge and establishes the vision, the detailed deployment plan can be developed. This includes timelines, decisions on locations, functional organizations, and specific numbers of Champions and Black Belts to be trained during the early stages of Six Sigma. BMG provides counseling based on extensive experience and an understanding of its client’s unique characteristics and culture.

    Small Companies
With companies like Allied Signal and General Electric at the forefront of Six Sigma implementation, the system has been almost exclusively adopted by large companies. BMG is changing that; it has developed a package of training and consulting services that can be tailored to meet the unique demands of small companies. In the past, small companies were relegated to simply training Black Belts, but experience has shown that without strong leadership and support systems, the results is, as Tom Peters calls it, "Just another mediocre success." However when Black Belt training can be combined with leadership training and supporting infrastructure development, small companies can realize all of the benefits of their larger counterparts. BMG's Small Company Six Sigma program includes the following elements:

    Champion Training (3 days)
Two executives or senior managers, usually plant managers and managers of major functional organizations, will lead your Six Sigma effort. In this three-day course they will receive extensive training on the implementation of Six Sigma, the management of Six Sigma Black Belts, project selection, and Six Sigma tools and methods.

Six Sigma Black Belt Training (4 weeks over 4 months)
Two of your best people will spend four months (four weeks, each separated by three weeks) in intense training while simultaneously applying what they learn to their first project. We call this the Train-Do, Train-Do method. These highly trained, super-charged individuals will execute 5 to 6 projects per year and deliver tremendous financial returns.

Infrastructure and Organizational Support Workshop (1-1/2 days)
During the first half of day one, your Champions will be accompanied by their support team from Human Resources and Finance. Together they will receive an overview of the support Black Belts need to be successful. Champions may then return to the business while the support teams stays for a full day workshop to learn the ins-and-outs of constructing the support system.

    Teleconference Support
You'll receive 8 hours of teleconference support from our Master Black Belts. When your Black Belts have questions or run into trouble, they can call for help. Callbacks are guaranteed within 24 hours.
